The first trailer for the new Steve Jobs fims 'steve jobs' sees Jobs (or jobs) yelling at people, being on stage, ignoring his daughter and being asked what his actual talent is. Having read the Walter Isaacson biography that this film is based on, it looks like that a) it's true to the book and b) Jobs would probably approve.

The Isaacson book was comissioned by Jobs himself, and made no attempt to hide his trangressions and foibles, and retained no editorial control over the book, save the design of the cover. Dude was a buddist, and spent a good part of his life tryin to destroy his huge ego. Strange to say but this film, which is named after him and will have him in almost every scene, might have helped do that.

Personally, I'm really looking forward to Seth Rogen's performance of as Steve Wozniak, Jobs engineering partner, and current part-time Australian, having taken on a job at UTS. Incidentally, we bumped into Woz at the Hard Rock in Sydney CBD a couple of montsh ago, and he doen't mind being approached. I'd wager you could probably squeeze a few Jobs questions from him.

With Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network, The West WIng) writing the screenplay, and Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, Trainspotting) directing, there's not much question of this being good, but if you have any real interest in the subject, you won't be able to beat the book, which is a surprisingly fast 650 page read.

"I say in speeches that a plausible mission of artists is to make people appreciate being alive at least a little bit. I am then asked if I know of any artists who pulled that off. I reply, 'The Beatles did'."
